Acrylic Painting on Canvas & Mixed Media Textured Zines
Acrylic Painting on Canvas & Mixed Media Textured Zines
Step into the rich, glowing world of Pierre Bonnard - a French painter known for his colourful interiors, dreamy window views, and textured mark-making. This day is perfect for young artists who love colour, storytelling, and seeing beauty in the everyday.
Morning Session: Window Worlds on Canvas
Using small canvases and acrylic paint, students will create layered paintings inspired by the view from a window — real or imagined. From cosy gardens to wild jungles or futuristic cities, they’ll explore light, colour, and mood, just like Bonnard did in his expressive, intimate works.
Afternoon Session: Mixed Media Textured Zines
In the afternoon, we’ll head outside to gather rubbings and drawings of textures from the natural world — tree bark, leaves, footpaths and more. Back in the studio, students will layer these textures into a concertina-style artist book using oil pastels and dry media. They’ll then draw natural elements into and on top of their textures, blending observation and imagination as they build richly layered compositions.
A beautifully tactile day of painting, printing and layering — perfect for those who love colour, nature, and noticing the little things.
