Get ready for a full day of zines — handmade mini artist books filled with playful printmaking, secret folds, and pages that open, flip, twist and surprise! We’ll experiment with texture, pattern, and creative page design to build zines that feel like tiny treasure troves of ideas.
Morning Session - Experimental Printmaking Zines
We’ll kick things off by making our own textured prints in the most unexpected way: using play-doh impressions from found textures and studio objects, plus rubbings and a mix of experimental mark-making. Budding artists will go on a mini ‘texture hunt,’ pressing patterns into play-doh plates and turning them into bold monoprints.
Once our pages are full of texture and character, we’ll fold them into zines — adding drawings, titles, symbols, and tiny details that bring each mini-book to life. Every zine becomes its own collection of prints, experiments, and imaginative marks.
Afternoon Session - Puzzle Zines (Fold-Out Artworks)
In the afternoon, we’ll level up our zinemaking with Puzzle Zines — magical fold-out artworks that reveal new images each time you open, rotate or unfold them. Artists will decorate every panel with patterns, drawings, symbols, characters and hidden messages, building a book that unlocks, shifts, and transforms as it’s opened.
A dynamic, tactile day for makers who love pattern, paper play, and crafting books that hide a little magic in every turn!
