Morning: Clay Birds & Trinket Dishes
In the morning, we’ll sculpt small air-dry clay birds full of personality while exploring texture, pattern and sgraffito techniques. Budding artists will also create their own tiny bird-themed trinket dish using carving, layering and hand-building methods to add feathers, nests, markings and other delightful details inspired by different bird species from around the world.
Afternoon: Gettin’ Wingy With It
In the afternoon, we’ll paint expressive watercolour birds with opening paper wings that reveal hidden surprises tucked inside. Using layered painting techniques, coloured pencil details and cut-paper textures, artists can create everything from elegant songbirds to fiery phoenixes soaring across the page while exploring the colours, shapes and features of different bird types. Speedy sparrows can also experiment with textured painted feathers inspired by birds in the wild!
