Morning: Diorama-rama!
Mountains! Volcanoes! Underwater hideaways! Wild Western deserts! Futuristic cities at sunset! Young artists will use cardboard, acrylic paint and mixed-media sculpture to build an imagined outdoor scene in the round, packed with intrigue, atmosphere and tiny details. Then they’ll create a miniature adventurer - perhaps even a tiny version of themselves - and send them in to explore!
Afternoon: Upside Down Land
Is it popping out... or disappearing in? Things get wonderfully strange in Upside Down Land! Young artists will discover reverse perspective - a clever optical illusion where a 3D form that physically projects towards you can appear to stretch away into the distance. Using drawing, perspective and paper construction, they’ll build and illustrate their own impossible interior. Design an art gallery, a creepy haunted room or a completely bizarre space of your own - then find the perfect viewing point and watch your sculpture seem to flip inside out before your eyes!
Wild places, impossible spaces and adventures waiting to happen.
